Dates for your diary

Could we please remind everyone to give us a week's notice of their intention to come to the meal.
If a lunch is booked by a member and they do not turn up without canceling at least 24 hours prior, they will receive a bill for the full amount of the lunch.
This is necessary as there have been as many as eight people book and not attend. The branch have to pay for those meals . . . . Eight meals at eleven pounds each =

All of the committee are aware how important it is for members to have a change of scenery, socialize and meet people. Both people living with MS and their carers and people around them are seen to enjoy the socials and gain some feel good factor from attending. We're told that loneliness is as bad for health as smoking fifteen cigarettes a day. That's why we consider social activity to be important enough to warrant subsidizing the cost.
Mike and Teresa have been organizing our monthly socials for several years now and done so most successfully. Thanks to both of them. They now want to hand over to a new 'social organizer'. They will arrange socials until the end of 2018 and then we need a new volunteer to take on the role. Mike and Teresa are willing to share the duties to enable someone new to learn what is needed. If you feel you could enjoy the job, talk to anyone from the committee or Mike and Teresa. There is no need to be a committee member to carry out the duties but whoever takes it on would be welcome to join the committee. The committee would give their full support and help to the new social organizer

We are holding bowling sessions in association with the Oddfellows, we were made very welcome.

Jenny would like to ask more members if they would like to attend the next session. We enjoy two games and a drink. The Isle of Wight branch pay for people diagnosed with MS. The cost is just £6.45 per person for carers. It's good exercise and accessible to all.

Click the 'Super Bowl ' logo to see some pictures and read about the sessions.

The Oddfellows have bowling sessions booked and all are welcome to join them. Jenny will need names though by a week beforehand to book lanes.

Contact Jenny for more information or to book a place.

Something that should be "Whats on" all the time, is to get out and enjoy the beautiful Island. To make the most of what we have on our doorsteps, I have started the ball rolling by listing some of my favorite walks and picnic places. The list covers walks for people in wheelchairs through to those where legs are essential. I would stress, it is just a starter list of some walks that I enjoy.

Please - email me with your suggestions for special places, walks and picnics and I'll include them on the map
